Thanks to the geographic location and to its particular operating efficiency mainly resulting from the spirit of cooperation among the various stakeholders, the Port of Monfalcone is one of today's most efficient Italian ones.
The geographical position of the port is optimal in order to reach the Central European and Balkan areas. The railway, motorway and airport are directly connected to the port in a close area.

Inside the port there are maritime agents and freight forwarders, trucking companies, warehouses, sheds and terminals.
At this stage of the port development activity, that appears to be in constant growth, over 4.5 million tons of various goods are handled: China clay, coal, cellulose, cereals, timber, plant systems, various bulk minerals, steel products, cars.
The port is specialised in general cargo and dry bulk cargo, with a wide experience in specific commodities.

Special Authority for the Port of Monfalcone offers a great many services to its customers:
Large yard of mechanical equipment which includes rail mounted gantry cranes (RMG), rubber tyred gantry cranes (RTG), power shovels, lifting trucks, towing tractors, carriages of various dimensions, rail locomotives and specific equipment.
Large yards ensure good wharf services and cargo storage;
yards, public and private warehouses, sheds at the wharf for the recovery of goods in transit; pneumatic cranes on rail for loading/unloading of grains and bulk by-products.
Two service buildings located at the main port entrance and owned by ASPO are available for the users; Coffee bars, restaurants, and conference rooms are also available.
Accreditation to the SILI system - In order to transit by the main gate of the port, an accreditation will be needed.
Internet connection service - WiFi-Porto.
